A win against Lavrio and 5/5

Olympiacos comfortably bested Lavrio at the SEF 102-63, has a perfect 5/5 record for the Betshop Basket League and now turns his full attention on the Thursday home game (15/11, 20.00 CET) against Fenerbahce.

The 'reds' got to lead with +7 from the start (10-3 at 3') and relying on their good defense completely controlled the tempo taking the score difference to +10 (19-9, at 6'). Lavrio reacted, took advantage of the gaps in our team's defense and closed in at 4p (24-20), at the end of the first quarter.

The response of David Blatt's players was imminent… With good defense and relying on the fast break, they run a partial 10-2 broadening the margin to +12 (34-22, at 14'). In the following minute, Olympiacos stepped on the breaks without any apparent reason and allowed Nelson to once again drop the difference to 4p (36-32, at 15'). But the 'reds' reflexes were quick to react again… Our team put pressure in the defense, made good choices when attacking and with a partial 11-0 run built a +15 lead (47-32 at 19').

David Blatt's players went to the locker rooms after the end of the first half leading by 12 (49-37). But they came into the second half determined to secure the victory from the start… They played solid defense (from the beginning of the second half through 33' Lavrio scored just 11 points), they moved the ball correctly and a pluralistic defense skyrocketed the difference to +39 (87-48 at 33'). Despite the game being decided, the 'reds' continued playing with the same intensity and even got a +40 (95-55 at 37').

«All twelve did a very good job»

David Blatt was satisfied from all the twelve players that got to step on the court. "I'm happy my players fought today's game. Sunday games are never easy. We have had very little time to prepare and physically heal. It's an early game and you need to come out and play the hardest you can and I think we did that. I think that the fans came, watched the game and supported the players. It was great, we felt it and it helped. Twelve players played today and I think that all of them did a very good job"
