Totall recall and an easy victory against Peristeri

Olympiacos beat Peristeri 92-69 at the SEF, for the 10th day of the Betshop Basket League.

Before even one minute into the game, Janis Strelnieks got knocked out! The Latvian guard received a “karate” blow on his head that took five stitches to patch up.

With back to back scoring by Nikola Milutinov, our team was leading 6-2 at 3’, however, it became immobile defense wise later on and received a partial 12-0 (6-12, at 5’). The guests maintained a steady lead (16-21, at 10’), while taking advantage of some mistaken referee calls into the second quarter, combined with the poor percentages of the ‘reds’ (who were clearly agitated by what was taking place on the floor), found themselves at +17 (19-38, at 24’). It is worth noting that up until 23’ the Serbian center of Olympiacos had already been called three personal fouls, having also received a technical! David Blatt’s players weren’t however willing to throw away the victory…

Pressing when defensing and with Axel Toupane leading the offense, the closed in at 6p. (42-48) with the completion of the first half (the French forward had scored 17p. during that time!). And that was only the beginning… In the second half, the ‘reds’ played ‘total’ basketball and from trailing by 6, they quickly found themselves at +16 (74-58) at 30’. They refused to step on the breaks… With Sasha Vezenkov executing from behind the 3p. line, our team increased the distance even further (26p., 90-64, at 37’) and reached a most comfortable victory.

The quarters: 16-21, 42-48, 74-58, 92-69.
