Friendly game: Alba Berlin - Οlympiacos 71-78
Olympiacos won over Alba 78-71 in a friendly game held in Berlin. The ‘reds’ will be playing against the German team again tomorrow at 19:00 CET.
Relying on good perimeter percentages, Olympiacos got a +7 difference (14-21), however, the hosts took advantage of the ‘reds’ defensive problems and replied with a 8-0 streak getting ahead 22-21 (at 11’). Hassan Martin and Giannoulis Larentzakis temporarily won back the lead for the ‘reds’ (22-26), since turnovers and poor choices allowed Alba to once again get in the driver’s seat (34-32). Bartzokas’ players, however, were quick to respond. Playing good defense and with Livio Jean-Charles and Aaron Harrison leading the offense, they ran a partial 7-1 closing the first half at +4 (35-39).
In the second half, Olympiacos got to improve their defense, dominated rebounding, found solutions in the offense with Kostas Sloukas and Vassilis Spanoulis and increased the margin even further (+11, 51-62 at 30’). They even got to lead by 14 (53-67), but the Germans succeeded to close in to two points (71-73) playing some aggressive defense and shooting with very good percentages from the perimeter at the same time. Finally, Vassilis Spanoulis took over, won fouls, scored and facilitated for his teammates, allowing the Greek team to regain control and get the 71-78 win.
The quarters: 19-21, 35-39, 51-62, 71-78.
