Friendly game: Alba Berlin - Οlympiacos 75-69
On the second friendly game on German soil, Olympiacos lost to Alba Berlin 69-75. The ‘reds’ did not use Vassilis Spanoulis, Giorgos Printezis and Aaron Harrison in order to rest them.
The original line up with Sloukas, McKissic, Charalampopoulos, Jean-Charles and Martin performed impeccably on both ends of the floor which is also evident in the score of the first seven minutes (3-17). The rotation Giorgos Bartzokas decided upon, did not the slightest impact on the ‘reds’ tempo. Relying on defense and with Sasha Vezenkov executing, they sent the difference to +18 (11-29 at 13’). Alba tried to close in with shots from the perimeter, however, Olympiacos steadily maintained complete control and closed the first half leading with 14 (24-38).
With pressing defense and much better percentages (in relation to the first half) from the 6.75m. line, the German team closed in at 7p. (35-42 at 26’), but Hassan Martin and Sasha Vezenkov maintained control for Olympiacos (44-55, at 31’). The hosts, nevertheless, did not give in. They continued “asphyxiating” the ‘reds’ with their defense (at three quarters of the floor), causing major disruption in the guests organization efforts and running a partial 19-3 took the lead (63-58). The return of Kostas Sloukas and Charles Jenkins on the floor seemed at first to be the solution for our team that closed in to one point (65-64 at 38’), but the Germans continued executing from the perimeter winning the game 75-69.
The quarters: 7-21, 24-38, 44-52, 75-69.
