bwin Monday Night Against Covid-19: Olympiacos - Μessolonghi 111-57
Olympiacos bested Messolonghi 111-57 in a game held for the bwin Monday Night Against Covid-19 at the SEF on Monday, February 15.
The ‘reds’ line up without Aaron Harrison, who suffered a muscle contraction in his back. Also, Kostas Papanikoalou (injured), as well as Vassilis Christidis, Iosif Koloveros and Dionisis Skoulidas did not make the roster.
The quarters: 27-13, 60-30, 85-40, 111-57.
"We will be ready to fight"
The Olympiacos coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, pointed out: “In a game that ‘opened up’ so early, it’s difficult to come up with a meaningful conclusion. The thing is that the guys from Messolonghi had not played for a very long time. They also have many new players and they obviously need a little time to come together. We did not use many young players tonight due to last week’s break, plus, we play Efes on Thursday and wanted to find some playing time. Given the circumstances, it was a good night”.
He continued to address the game against Anadolu Efes in Istanbul. “We have a very tough game ahead of us, but we are going there to fight. Vezenkov came back in a good shape, thankfully for us. He’s a key player according to my opinion and we feel we are going to be competitive. Now, you can never know what is going to happen with you in any Euroleague game. But we are going to prepare to fight all the way. Papanikolaou is still out and is not expected to return in the near future. Vezenkov is back, as I said before, and we have no other problems”.
On his part, Sasha Vezenkov pointed out: “The joint initiative of our team and our Mega Sponsor, bwin, is a very beautiful one. These games help us win a lot more, besides basketball. We are trying to help the community during this difficult time we are going through. It’s something very good for everyone”. About the game against Messolonghi, he said: “It was the last test before the game against Efes. We are finally almost all together, we are only missing Kostas Papanikolaou. We have had the chance to test a few thing, we still have two days ahead of us to work and play in a very tough court against a very good team”.
