Sfairopoulos: «Milano's ranking is plasmatic»
Olympiacos visits Armani Jeans Milano on Wedensday (25/01, 20:45 CET) and Giannis Sfairopoulos talked about the important game for the 19th day of the Euroleague before the departure of the delegation.
GIANNIS SFAIROPOULOS: "Armani Jeans Milano comes from a win on the road and they definitely have a good roster. They are a team complete in all positions, and for me, their ranking does not do the justice. They are always dangerous in Milan, they have a good transition game, with a lot of players that can score and hurt you. We definitely have a tough mission ahead, but we know what we need to do. We need to be focused, we have made a plan, we need to stay true to it and then we are going to be closer to achieving our goal. They are a team of rhythm, a team that runs, that plays fast and on half court if they get into rhythm in offense, they can easily score close to 90 points", the Greek coach said at first.
In regard to his team, the coach of the Greek champions said: "we need to stop this rhythm, we cannot allow them play their game. We are in a good shape, we have good psychology. What we need is to remain focused and do what needs to be done because you need to prove you are in shape on the court each time you play. We need to prove this on every game".
Asked about whether this week is going to decide a lot in regard to rankings, he answered that "I don't know how to answer that, it's still early to talk about final rankings and definite positioning and goals. A couple of games that may not go your way, for any team, can cost you. For us, the most important thing is to be looking at the game ahead of us and then we have the time to focus on what comes next".
DOMINIC WATERS: "We like to control the rhythm of the game. We need to do what we did last week against Baskonia who are also a team that likes to run. We must not allow this to happen. Defense is always the beginning for us, in every game. That's what we need to stay focused on and through defense try to run the fast - break. You can never play the perfect game, there is always something to fix. I don't think we played the perfect game against Baskonia. But we've been playing well lately, I feel we are ready for this game. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still adjusting and learning. The coach wants me to be aggressive on both ends of the floor, I'm definitely better than I was when I came and I'm doing all I can to become better every day and make my team mates better as well".
