«It's amazing to become a member of the Olympiacos history»
The first Olympiacos' transfer for the 2017-18 season, Janis Strelnieks, spoke to Olympiacosbc.gr about his first emotions as a player of the Piraeus team.
"I'm really excited and looking forward to playing for Olympiacos. To be given the opportunity to become a member of the history of this huge club is something awesome", the Latvian guard said at first and then pointed out that "yesterday I was thinking, after we closed the deal, that a few years ago I was watching Spanoulis and Printezis on TV, I was watching them winning back to back Euroleague titles and was in awe of them. And now we are going to be playing together. It's something that fills me with joy".
As to whether he got to speak with anyone before he signed with the Piraeus team, the 28year old guard revealed that he talked with Nikos Zisis, who explained to him that Olympiacos is a "family" and it would be easy for him to adjust and show what he really is capable of. "Nikos' comments made me feel even more comfortable. He explained that Olympiacos is a family, just like we had been one in Bamberg, something that makes me especially happy since I'm kind of shy and this will help me be at ease".
