Κemzura: "Fenerbahce is a dangerous team"
Olympiacos will be hosting Fenerbahce tomorrow (02/01, 20.00 CET) for a game that holds a special significance.
However, there’s also a great possibility that Vassilis Spanoulis gets to write history in the said game, since, if he scores 10 points, he will become the Euroleague’s all time top scorer. “I’ll comment on it the way Vassilis would. First of all, it’s a very important game for as a team. The team comes first for Vassilis”, Kestutis Kemzura said and continued: “Everyone understands how important this game is. Regardless of what is being discussed, about Fenerbahce not being at its best shape right now, they are still a great team, with a great coach. Maybe injuries have affected them, but they are still a very dangerous team and we need to be serious and ready. We expect a tough game tomorrow”.
When the ‘reds’ coach was asked on whether the fact that the Turkish team is going to be lining up without three of its centers is an advantage or not for Nikola Milutinov, he replied: “We’ll see what happens. They will try to cover for it defense wise with double teams, with traps at the low post, so that they gain an advantage when attacking. We’ll see… We’ll try to be ready to use the advantage given to us. It’s going to be interesting to see how it goes”.
Finally, when he was told that it’s the first time in its history that the Euroleague has made two public announcements on officiating calls that were wrong and against Fenerbahce and if this is a motive for him and his players to not allow the game to be decided at the last play, he said: “No coach wants the game to be decided at the last play. It just happens. I hope that announcements will not have a negative impact on the coaches and that they are going to officiate the game fairly. I hope they are going to be making the correct calls”.
On his part, Willie Reed stated: “I feel very well. Game after game, I gain all the more confidence. I’m excited with the opportunity that has been given to me and the only thing I want is to come out and help my team win. The mental state of the team is great. We have been working hard on a daily basis, we try to improve and I’m certain that victories are going to come through hard work”.
About the absence of Fener’s big players from the game, he replied: “The game is changing. We’ll come out on the floor and play our game, regardless of who is going to be on the floor. They have talented players and we need to play good basketball to get the result we want.
About the imminent record for Vassilis Spanoulis: “It’s going to be a great moment. I hope he enjoys it. His family is going to be there, the Olympiacos’ fans… He deserves it! I’m going to be very happy for him”.
