Vindication

With no. 40/09.11.2016 ruling of the Deputy DA of the Piraeus Appellate Court, the complaint for slander submitted by Dimitris Giannakopoulos against Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos has been irrevocably denied. The complaint was filed against what the Olympiacos Presidents had stated during the Media Day of our team on 01.10.2014. The complaint had already been deemed unfounded and had been denied by the Piraeus DA, however, Dimitris Giannakopoulos had challenged this ruling on August 11, 2016, aiming to the penal prosecution of the owners of our team and their court arraignment.  

Specifically, among others, it was irrevocably decided that the public claims of the owners of Olympiacos BC do not constitute grounds for slander against Dimitris Giannakopoulos, since they either refer to true facts or reflect their personal concerns.

"Did he (i.e. Dimitris Giannakopoulos) only understand what happened five days later and decided to react to our statement that we want a League free of doping? Where is the harm in that? Does he want a League with doping?"

"Our position is clear of tax evasion. When budgets of 30, 40 million are announced but your Balance Sheets only depict 10 or 12, it can only make you wonder. If Mr. Giannakopoulos likes to boast about a budget of 30 or 40 million but he only presents 10 on his Balance Sheets, then it's not our position to say if this tax evasion or not. I'm not eligible to decide.. We said we don't want a League where teams evade taxes.. Neither do we want a League with prevailing vulgarity. Do you think that our players here want to see three thugs go after refs along with Giannakopoulos?"

"He wants to be placing bets? He's under investigation according to the Vima newspaper for illegal betting. There is an ongoing investigation. What has happened with it? Would he care to inform us? Or is it being archived as non valid? It's only good for him to inform us. Instead of allowing shadows over him, it would be nice to say "I was being investigated for illegal betting in Malaysia"… If this investigation has been completed and is archived as non valid he should say so… There is also legal betting with OPAP. There are rumors that Mr. Giannakopoulos has placed a 500,000 euro bet on the Greek Cup final, doesn't he feel compelled to answer if he has done so or not?"

The ruling has fully vindicated the irrevocable decision of Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos to practice authority based on clarity and justice.

We are looking forward to the rulings of Justice for the civil, penal and administrative complaints pending against Dimitris Giannakopoulos.

P.S.  Olympiacos BC had been aware of the dismissive Ruling since 11.11.2016, however, for obvious reasons, it was our decision not to go public with it until today.
