Rubit: «I didn’t even have to think about it»

When Augustine Rubit got the Olympiacos offer in his hands, he didn’t really need to think before saying yes. He explained why to www.OlympiacosBC.gr, in his first interview as a member of the ‘reds’.

“I’m excited about the new chapter in my career and it’s definitely a step up”, the American power forward/center commented. “For real, when I got the offer I almost didn’t need to think. Olympiacos is a historic team, a team where many, different and great players have played. I have always wanted to play for a top Euroleague club. I’ll say it again, I’m really excited to be playing for a historic club like Olympiacos. I want to give my best for the fans, the coaching staff and the great teammates I’m going to have”.

This is the sixth pro season for the 30year old player and first one outside Germany! “It’s going indeed to be my first season outside Germany and I’m looking forward to it. I think that everything is going to be different. The way of life is going to be different, basketball is going to be different, even the fans are going to be different! I know that the Greek fans can be a little … uncontrollable! I have never had the chance to play at the SEF as an opponent, but I know that they are always supporting the team with passion. I’m looking forward to give all I have for Olympiacos, bring my skills on the floor, play hard as a team and win games”.

Asked what part of his game is his greatest asset, he replied: “Multi-functioning. I can play both the ‘4’ and ‘5’ position. I can play inside the post and outside in the offense. I can make a lot of different things. There are definitely parts of my game I want to improve. You can always become a better shooter and you can always become a smarter and wiser player. I think that these things come with experience, not only by playing at Euroleague level. I have enough experience and I feel that by improving small things you become better”.
