Bartzokas: «We should focus on the next game»

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, was not keen on analyzing the game against Iraklis, stressing that everyone should be focusing on the following game against Zalgiris.

“There are not a lot of things to say about this game. Iraklis came here to play with a very short rotation and the game was evolving in that spirit until we realized that to win any game, you have to play, do the things that win a basketball game. Truth is we only did that for a few minutes in the said game and won, but I wouldn’t like to say anything else about this game, except to wish to Iraklis good luck for whatever it is the future holds for them. We have to focus on the next game. We are traveling to Kaunas on Monday, we have games on Tuesday and Thursday, we are at a critical point in the season and we have to prove we are ready”.

On his part, the coach of Iraklis, Kostas Mexas, pointed out: “For us, this was a game of typical significance, due to the problems we have had throughout the week with our sick players. We haven’t had a proper practice. Today, we practically played with contact for the first time. The guys fought hard, especially for as long as they had strength to do it, for about thirty minutes, also taking advantage of Olympiacos’ relaxed performance up to that point. We showed quite a competitive face, with the exception of turnovers. Some of our players ought to show more respect to the ball than what they showed today. Olympiacos is a quite good condition and I sincerely wish them to achieve their goals during a difficult week they have ahead of them, to win the two games that are going to be helping them come much closer to their goal. I wish them all the best in Europe and in the National League”.
