Nikos Lepeniotis began his career in the States where, following his studies in Law, Economics and Business Administration (MBA), he worked for marketing, consulting and communication firms.
He returned to Greece in 2000 to begin his collaboration with the Organizing Committee of the Athens 2004 Games, which lasted for 5 years. He served as the Director of the Marketing – Sponsorships Department and Director of the Operational Planning Department of the Global Olympic Torchbearing.
He then served as the Group Director for the Connective Communications Group, where he directed the activities of the firm in Greece as well as in the neighboring countries of Cyprus, Bulgaria, Albania and FYROM.
He became the Marketing & Commercial Development Director of OLYMPIACOS BC in September 2007, where he created one of the most contemporary marketing programs of any athletic organization in Europe, introducing a plethora of innovation and new applications. Olympiacos’ Marketing Program has been awarded by the Euroleague four times (2012, 2013, 2014) as one of the best 3 among 56 European teams, while it won 1st place in 2015 in Europe, leaving legendary teams like Real and Barcelona behind. He was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer and Commercial Director of OLYMPIACOS BC in September of 2009 and became the Chief Business Officer of the Club in 2016. In July 2019 he advanced to the position of the Company’s General Director.
He has vast experience in designing and handling Business Sponsorships in relation to Olympic Games as well as at all levels of global professional sports and sports management. He’s a founding member and main inspirer of the initiative for the foundation of the Sporting Business Institute, the only non-profit organization in Europe that studies the development of Sporting Entrepreneurship. He has published a great number of research, studies and articles in regard to all aspects of Sporting Entrepreneurship, continues his research in different areas of sports management, participates as the introductory and trainer in many international symposiums in relation to Sports Business and is Presiding the Board of the Institute for Sports Business which was founded in 2006. He has participated in educational programs in Greece and abroad while in 2014 he got to finish his studies in Negotiating Strategies at the Columbia Business School of New York.
