2018-2024: Page break

The 2018/2019 season is a milestone in the team’s history. At the end of the first half of the Greek Cup semi-final game against Panathinaikos at the OAKA, Olympiacos takes a huge decision to withdraw, as a last form of protest for the many years of incomprehensible decisions of the referees who deprived the ‘red & whites’ of titles.

The team's administrative leaders made it clear to the Hellenic Basketball Federation that they will not allow the club to ever play again in any game where the three specific referees are appointed and that in the upcoming games against Panathinaikos the ‘red & whites’ will only play if foreign referees officiate.

The Piraeus team’s demands were not accepted by the Federation and thus it was decided that the team will compete in the domestic competitions under the distinctive name Olympiacos B - Development Team, with a different, young roster, until the unacceptable conditions in Greek basketball are rectified.

The decision taken by the management and the people of the organization found huge support among the fans of the team. In the following seasons (2019–2020 and 2020–2021), the club competed in the Euroleague but not in the Basket League.

In January of 2020, Giorgos Bartzokas came back to Piraeus and the team returned in the Basket League in the 2021-2022 season (as the A2 category runner-up) in an emphatic way. The ‘red & whites’ won the League title, the Greek Cup and the Super Cup, and qualified for the Euroleague Final Four in Belgrade, following a long-awaited change of page in the troubled world of Greek basketball.

In the 2022-2023 season, Giorgos Bartzokas’ team continued to receive praise from the entire European basketball community for its performance on the floor. The team once again qualifies for the Final Four, this time in Kaunas, Lithuania - as the first seed in the Regular Season - and finally takes 2nd place. In the semi-final, the ‘red & whites’ overcame the obstacle of Monaco with a great comeback (historic partial run of 27-2), however, one missed shot deprived them of their 4th European title (lost to Real Madrid 79-78). In the domestic competitions, the ‘red & whites’ make for another treble, winning the Championship, Cup and Super Cup!

In the 2023-2024 season, the Piraeus team added another Greek Cup and Super Cup to its pedigree. Also, against adversity and bad luck, they managed to qualify to the Final Four (Belgrade) for the 3rd time in a row, taking 3rd place.
