Kalampokis joins the technical staff of Olympiacos

Olympiacos BC has begun its collaboration with Giannis Kalampokis.

Kalampokis was born on August 15, 1978 in Ilion. He has had a long career as a basketball player, and he has been working as a coach since the 2016/17 season. He belongs with the technical stall of Olympiacos since September 2024.

He started his career with the local Ilion team, 'Neoi Palatianis", with which he played in the 2nd local division. In 1999 he transferred to Palaio Faliro, that was playing in the A2 category at the time, while taking the big leap of his career in 2003, when he signed with Olympiacos, getting to play with the 'red & whites' both in the A1 and the Euroleague.

He has also played for AEK, PAOK, Panionios, Benetton Treviso, Ikaros Kallithea, Alba Berlin, Kolossos Rhodes and AGOR. The bronze medal he won with the Greek National team in the 2009 Eurobasket in Poland was a career milestone.

On August 20, 2016, he announced his retirement at the age of 38 and immediately took up coaching. He was a member of the technical staff of Panionios in the 2016/17 season, then of that of Peristeri, he worked for Zhejiang Lions in China in the 2018/19 season and in 2019 he returned to Peristeri, moving to Dafni Dafniou in the 2020-21 season.

Also, from 2017 through the summer of 2021 he had been a member of the technical staff o f the Greek Men's National Team, while he became the head coach of the U16 National team during the 2021-2024 period.
