ANNOUNCEMENT
According to a recent release by the US Treasury Department, the Office of Foreign Assets Control has included Felix Bitzios, a member of the Administrative Board of Panathinaikos BC since August 2023 and one of the closest associates of D. Giannakopoulos, in its sanctions list.
He was included in the said list along with other people thought to have played a part in the development, operation, and distribution of potential spyware that significantly threatens the national security of the USA.
It is also public knowledge that a short while ago, the Deputy Prosecutor of the Greek Supreme Court had indicted the same person about a series of felonies connected to his involvement in the case of illegal phone tapping.
The questions borne from the above-mentioned serious developments are relentless and await answers. What are the roles and responsibilities said person has with Panathinaikos BC in seeking sponsorships, shareholders, and its general funding?
And most importantly, is he going to continue participating in its Administrative Board, while at the same time having been sanctioned and indicted for such serious allegations? All of us who fight and serve with all our strength for the progress of sports and healthy competition within the basketball community wait for answers.
