ANNOUNCEMENT

Olympiacos BC would like to make clear that it wishes for the Stoiximan GBL Finals to continue. There is no reason for the championship games to be suspended, especially considering that the second final at the Peace and Friendship stadium was held in an atmosphere of order and safety, as publicly acknowledged by the Minister for Citizen Protection, Mr. Michalis Chrysochoidis.
Any threat to public order during Sunday's game was caused solely by the unprecedented vulgar and abusive behavior of Mr. D. Giannakopoulos, who, as he had announced, came to the arena with the intent to provoke our fans. Regarding these behaviors of Mr. Giannakopoulos, we calmly and composed await for the decisions of the competent judicial authorities, who have already initiated the appropriate legal procedures.
As is well known, we are always available to the Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Giannis Vroutsis, and any other state authority. However, we reiterate that we refuse to sit at the same table with the repeat offender, abuser, and lawbreaker Mr. D. Giannakopoulos. It is inconceivable that we are being asked to enter into a “moral agreement” with someone who persistently disrespects institutions and laws, and who threatens, insults, and slanders Olympiacos and our families.
Olympiacos BC affirms and guarantees that, as it consistently does, it will take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the games against Panathinaikos BC at SEF, and will strictly comply with every decision and directive issued by the Greek Police and the competent authorities.
