ANNOUNCEMENT
Yesterday, at the very moment when the Region of Attica was placed under a state of emergency, making both the arrival and departure of our fans from the Peace and Friendship Stadium extremely dangerous, and an 112 emergency alert from Civil Protection Agency was being sent out, the current owner of Panathinaikos B.C. had only one concern; to impose a penalty on Olympiacos B.C. for non-existent reasons.
Fortunately, the Greek State, through the Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Ioannis Vroutsis, immediately decided to postpone the game scheduled for yesterday, setting, as was entirely reasonable, public safety as the absolute and non-negotiable priority, rather than the “fantasies” of Mr. D. Giannakopoulos.
And now, since he wants us to come down to his level, let us tell him a few things:
- When Rick Pitino spoke about the broken toilets in his office at OAKA and Panathinaikos coaches had to wear scarves and gloves during practice, did the current owner not have the money to fix a toilet?
- When Zeljko Obradovic couldn’t hold practice because of the cold and Manos Papadopoulos sent the team to watch video instead, is it true that the current owner was just a fan at the time?
- But when Ivanovic couldn’t run practice because of the cold, was he not the owner then? Did he not take care of ensuring proper training conditions?
- Will he comment on OAKA’s outstanding financial claims against Panathinaikos B.C.? Is it true that Panathinaikos B.C. is demanding 5,000,000 euros from OAKA for an alleged structural-stability issue in the arena? If so, has the structural issue Panathinaikos claims actually been fixed, given that games are being played at OAKA?
- Since he is so anxious about the SEF, let us inform him that the athletes’ parking area will stay exactly the same. We do not intend to make any expansions…
