The who is who of the Greek coach…

Giannis Sferopoulos was born in Thessaloniki on March 21, 1967. He began his coaching career at 19 years of age from the academies of Apollon Kalamarias.

He signed with PAOK in 1997 and in 1999 won the Greek Cup with the Thessaloniki team, being the assistant coach to Kostas Flevarakis.

He has been a member of the Olympiacos technical staff as the immediate associate of Jonas Kazlauskas and then that of Pini Gerson and Panagiotis Giannakis.

As the immediate associate of the Jonas Kazlauskas, he won the bronze medal in the Poland 2009 Eurobasket with the National Team of Greece while he had also been a member of the technical staff of Giannis Ioannides for the 2003 Eurobasket, as well as the immediate associate of Panagiotis Giannakis for the 2004 Olympic Games of Athens.

During the 2011-12 he was the immediate associate of Jonas Kazlauskas in CSKA Moscow. He won the Russian Championship and Cup, as well as the VTB League, while also won the second place in the Istanbul Euroleague Final Four.

He has been the head coach of PAOK, Kolossos Rhodes and Panionios.
