Olympiacos signs Timma

Olympiacos BC announces the agreement with Janis Timma. The Latvian forward will be signing a two year contract.

He was born on July 2, 1992 in Latvia and is 2.01m.

He started playing basketball at his home town, Krāslava, however, he moved to Riga at the age of 15 to join ASK Riga. He debuted with the professional league in 2011-12 with BK Liepājas Lauvas.

He signed a two year contract with Ventspils in 2012, while he wore the VEF Riga jersey during the 2013-14 season. His next stop (for a total of two seasons) was Russia and Zenit St. Petersburg, while he played for Baskonia last season.

He got drafted at no 60 by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2013, however, his rights are now owned by the Orlando Magic, through trading.

In 33 Euroleague games he averaged 22.2 minutes, 7.6 p.p.g (76.7% free throws, 67.3% 2p., 41.2% 3p.), 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.9 steals. In 42 games for the Liga Endesa, he averaged 22.3 minutes, 7.8 p.p.g (83.7% free throws, 63.4% 2p., 35.1% 3p.), 3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.7 steals.
