A 100+ points win in Maroussi
Olympiacos ‘demolished’ Maroussi on the road 111-83, for the 7th day of the Basket League.
Relying on good perimeter percentages, the hosts were leading 13-9 at 5’. The ‘red & whites’ replied the same way (with Peters, Brazdeikis and Canaan) and went ahead 24-21 at 10’. However, despite the excellent percentages by Isaiah Canaan from the three-point line, the game remained balanced up until 15’ (33-32). At that point, everything changed… Olympiacos put pressure in the defense, dominated the post with Luke Sikma, had excellent ball movements, played with amazing speed and through offensive plurality (Papanikolaou, Lountzis and Peters), closed the first half at +12 (41-53).
Isaiah Canaan began the second half ‘blazing’ hot, was unstoppable from the three-point line and together with Alec Peters, got to send the margin sky-high at +23p. (56-79) at 28’. Despite the game being prematurely decided, the ‘red & whites’ refused to slow down. They continued putting pressure in defense and executing with Peters from long range, furthering the distance to 24p. (71-95) at 35’. Olympiacos scored its 100th point with a lay-up by Lountzis (77-100) at 37’, while a bucket by Giannoulis Larentzakis sent them to +29 (82-111).
- Before the tip-off, Amaroussion BC paid tribute to the coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas and the trainer, Andreas Gkatzouylis, for their contribution to the team of Maroussi.
