Took care of business against Peristeri
Olympiacos bested Peristeri 87-74 at the SEF, for the 8th day of the Basket League.
Playing a good defensive game and with Isaiah Canaan, Alec Peters and Thomas Walkup taking care of the offence, the 'red & whites' set the tempo and built a +15 lead (27-12) at 9'. Giorgos Bartzokas, who aimed to keep his players as rested as possible in view of the road game against Monaco, shuffled the deck rather quickly, however, Olympiacos consistently maintained control of the game (40-25) up until 16'. Two minutes followed, during which our team lost its concentration on both ends of the floor, resulting in receiving a 7-0 streak (40-33). With three free throws (1 by Sikma and 2 by Lountzis), Olympiacos got to close the first half at +10 (43-33).
In the second half, Thomas Walkup played a very solid game on both ends of the floor and had a major contribution to our team once again building a +15 lead (63-48 at 29'). The 'red & whites' found target from the long range with Giannoulis Larentzakis and Thomas Walkup and sent the difference to 19p. (73-54) at 33'. But Peristeri wasn't ready to leave the fight... They tightened their defense, made some threes, found score in the transition and closed in to 9p. (83-74) at 39'. Bartzokas' players, nevertheless, had an immediate reaction and with a three by Isaiah Canaan with 33'' on the clock (87-74) practically finished the game.
