A win against AEK at Liosia

Olympiacos bested AEK 92-80 in the latter's home court for the 13th day of the Basket League, hence continuing its winning streak.

The 'red & whites' controlled the tempo of the game from the start and despite not so good percentages from the perimeter (3/10 3-pointers in the first quarter), they managed with good ball movement and with Kostas Papanikolaou and Nigel Williams-Goss spearheading their offense, to get a 9p. lead (12-21 at 9'). The hosts closed in to 6p. (16-23) at 10', however, with pressing defense and even better ball movement, combined with completely dominating the rebounds and good choices when in offense, our team sent the difference to 15p. (23-38). AEK nevertheless, fought back, played very aggressive defense and running a partial 12-2, closed in to 5p. (35-40) at 18'. The return of Alec Peters and Kostas Papanikolaou on the floor allowed Olympiacos to regain control and close the first half at +10 (39-49).

Defense being a reliable staple and with Kostas Papanikolaou playing an excellent game on both ends of the floor, gave the 'red & whites' a 17p. lead (52-69) at 29'. However, they lost focus next and with that, they also lost the path to scoring, resulting in AEK once again reacting and running a partial 20-7 to close in to 4p. (72-76) at 36'. But that was as far as that went... Nigel Williams-Goss kept Olympiacos 'alive' and Kostas Papanikolaou scored a three with 1:35'' on the clock, which practically sealed the win (74-84).

*Isaiah Canaan did not participate the 12-men roster. Shaquielle McKissic and Luke Sikma are not eligible to play in the Basket League.

The quarters: 16-23, 39-49, 57-71,  80-92.
