Subdued Alba at the SEF

Absences cannot break them! Olympiacos routed Alba Berlin 101-87 at the SEF, for the 24th round of the Euroleague.

Moses Wright made an impressive debut in the game, while the injured Filip Petrusev, Nikola Milutinov and Moustapha Fall watched the game from the sidelines.

Despite the offensive crescendo by Isaiah Canaan and Alec Peters, Olympiacos did not succeed in setting the tempo. The 'red & whites' got to lead 12-5, but the Germans found score from the perimeter and tied the score 17-17 at 9'. With good defense and Goss, Papanikolaou and Larentzakis taking center stage, our team furthered the distance to 7p. (40-33). However, Alba reacted, took advantage of Olympiacos' mistakes and running a partial 13-2 turned the tables (42-46 at 18'), closing the first half at +3 (45-48).

The 3rd quarter though, was a completely different story. Our team played some amazing defense (with Kostas Papanikolaou taking the role of the 'unsung hero'), moved the ball extremely efficiently in offense, 'struck' from the 3-point line with Brazdeikis and Wright and built a +17 lead (78-61) at 31'. And they did not stop there. With Canaan 'on fire' and Weight dominating the post, Olympiacos put even more distance between (+25, 88-63 at 33'). After 35', the 'red & whites' relaxed, the Germans found score from the perimeter and the difference dropped to 13p. (93-80) at 37'. However, Wright and Goss saw that order was restored and Olympiacos got a comfortable win.

The quarters: 20-17, 45-48, 78-61, 101-87.
