An easy win in Patras
Olympiacos easily beat Promitheas in Patras 81-57, for the 17th day of the Bakset League.
The 'red & whites' set the tempo from the start. They pressed in defense, moved the ball correctly and with Peters, Wright and Canaan spearheading the offense, they closed the first quarter at +10 (11-21). A bucket by Petrusev sent our team for the first time to +12 (11-23), but, bad choices and a sluggish defense allowed the hosts to close in to 3p. (22-25). However, Mitrou-Long and Petrusev co-operated at high level and saw to restore order immediately (28-39 at 20').
Promitheas never left the battle though... They upped their defense, 'struck' from the perimeter and closed in to 3p. (40-43). Bartzokas' players had once again a timely reaction. They pressed even more in defense, stole balls and with Walkup and Wright leading the offense, replied with a partial 20-5, skyrocketing the difference to 18p. (45-63) at 30'.
Despite the 'red & whites' putting out a missed-shots recital in the first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, the game outlook did not change at all, since the hosts were shooting rather badly themselves (52-65 at 35'). Lountzis and Petrusev got to run a 9-0 partial of their own in less than two minutes, sending the difference to 20p. (52-72) and practically decided the win. The biggest margin was that of +24 (55-79), following a three by Papanikolaou 1:41'' before the end, while the final 57-81 came with Tanoulis).
The quarters: 11-21, 28-39, 45-63, 57-81.
