A huge win in Valencia!
Olympiacos bested Valencia in Spain 76-65 (for the 26th round of the Euroleague) and 'covered' for the defeat margin of the first-round game at the SEF(56-63). Our team played with the black kit, thus honoring the memory of the Gate 7 victims.
The first quarter was balanced and despite their mistakes, the 'red & whites' succeeded in closing it in the lead (19-21). Following Moses Wright and Filip Petrusev entering the game, our team dominated both posts, Nigel Williams-Goss found the way to the basket with individual efforts and Olympiacos increased the distance to 11p. (23-24 at 15'). However, Valencia's pressure created a serious offensive problem for our team and allowed the Spaniards - who found score from the perimeter - to shrink the difference (running a partial 16-6) to one point (39-40) at 20'.
In the second half tough, the 'red & whites' came in determined. They pressed in the defense, found solutions to the Spanish team's physical game and with Peters and Canaan sent their lead to 10p. (41-51). Valencia tried for the come-back, but Fall played a catalytic role... The French center won a foul, scored and played a major role so that Olympiacos increased the margin to 14p. (46-59) at 29'. Valencia kept pressing, but with Canaan, McKissic and Wright in the lead, the 'red & whites' maintained complete control (57-70 at 35') and got the win with ease.
The quarters: 19-21, 39-40, 48-60, 65-78.
