That’s W-Right!
Olympiacos bested Panathinaikos 71-65 in packed SEF and will have the tie-breaker in case of equal ranking.
Our team appeared to be anywhere but in the game during the first quarter. Bad offensive decisions, poor shooting percentages (0/2 free throws, 2/6 2-point shots, 1/7 3-point shots), missed rebounds (6-15), and lack of creating (just only one assist), allowed Panathinaikos to set the tempo and build a 10p. lead (7-17). However, Moses Wright and Filip Petrusev coming on the floor changed the status... The 'red & whites' put pressure on the defense, passed the ball inside the paint and with Wright spearheading the offense, succeeded in 'closing' the distance (25-26 at 17') and tying the game following a dunk by Fall (33-33 at 20').
In the 3rd quarter, Alec Peters (who did not play long in the first half having committed 2 fouls), came in 'hot'. With superb defense and the American forward executing at will, our team ran a partial 12-2 that gave team a +10 lead (35-35 at 26'). A 2-pointer by Nigel Williams-Goss increased the lead to 11p. (47-36 at 37'), but then, Panathinaikos took advantage of bad decision-making and led by Nunn closed into one point - following an 11-1 streak - (48-47) at 31'. Despite missed free throws and Panathinaikos' robust resistance (59-56 at 36'), the 'red & whites' always controlled the game consistently relying on their solid defensive game and an incredible Wright, hence getting a rather comfortable win.
The quarters: 7-17, 33-33, 48-42, 71-65.
