Took care of business against Karditsa
Although far removed from usual standards, Olympiacos bested Karditsa 85-73, for the 21st day of the Basket League.
Relying on good shooting percentages from the perimeter, the 'red & whites' got a +6 lead (21-15) at 8', but they really weren't able to ever set the tempo. Karditsa took advantage of turnovers, bad decision-making and mainly of their complete domination of rebounding (11-22 in the first half), turned the tables (21-26) and maintained the lead up to the end of the first half (39-41).
In the second half, Olympiacos continued being ineffective on both ends of the floor, allowing the guests to consistently stay in the lead (51-55). However, in the last couple of minutes of the third quarter, Bartzokas' players seemed to answer to a wake-up call. They pressed in defense, ran the fast-break and closed the 3rd quarter at +5 (62-57). Their good defensive game, good ball movement and Moses Wright and Michalis Lountzis stepping up scoring wise, increased the distance between the two teams to 16p. (81-65) at 38' and practically decided the winner.
Nigel Williams-Goss and Thomas Walkup were not included in the 12-man roster.
The quarters: 21-19, 39-41, 62-57, 85-73.
