Lost at the OAKA
Olympiacos failed to get a win at the OAKA. They lost to Panathinaikos 77-71, for the 3rd day of the Basket League Top 6.
The game was balanced up to 9' (15-16), but the 'greens' found score from the perimeter, took advantage of the many turnovers our team was committing and running a partial 8-0 they got to close the first quarter at +7 (23-26). They also exploited our teams poor shooting (even from the free throw line) and with Kedrick Nunn taking a leading role, they sent the difference skyrocketing to 16p. (36-20) at 16'. Olympiacos, nevertheless, got to react... They pressed in the back court, found solutions with Nigel Williams-Goss, Moustapha Fall and Isaiah Canaan and running a partial 13-2 dropped the difference to 5p. (38-33) at 20'.
Panathinaikos tried to keep control (45-36), but with a good defensive game and Canaan and Peters running point in the offense, our team succeeded in getting the lead at 26' (47-48). The 'greens' countered that taking advantage of defensive lapses by our team and hence closed the 3rd quarter at +4 (59-55), but the game had now become a derby... Wright tied the score for our team (61-61 at 33'), Panathinaikos found score from the perimeter and got ahead with 5p. (68-63), but Goss and Larentzakis equaled the score once again at 37' (68-68).
With 1:51'' on the clock, McKissic made one of his two free throws and closed in to one point (72-71) while Walkup made attempted an open three that went terribly wrong and hence missed the opportunity to give the lead back to Olympiacos. On the contrary, Panathinaikos once again found target from the three-point line (75-71) and practically sealed the victory, since Goss missed a lay-up wasting the last chance the 'red & whites' had to remain alive in the fight for the win/
The quarters: 23-16, 38-33, 59-55, 77-71.
