Routed Barca and goes to Spain for the qualification!
Olympiacos routed Barcelona 92-58, tying the series 2-2 and forcing a decider in Barcelona, where the team will give all it's got to win a ticket to the Berlin Final 4.
Moustapha Fall was unstoppable in the first quarter, but this wasn't enough for the 'red & whites' to impose the rhythm. the Blaugrana took advantage of the gaps in our team's defense and got to lead by 7 (12-19) at 5'. Olympiacos put more pressure in defense, improved ball movement, found score with Peters, Canaan and McKissic and closed into 2p. (21-23) at 10'.
Bartzokas' decision to send the Serbian duo of Nikola Milutinov and Filip Petrusev on the floor together with Nigel Williams-Goss, Giannoulis Larentzakis and Shaquille McKissic proved to be a game changer. The 'red & whites' put a top-notch defensive game, and with Petrusev, McKissic and Milutinov spearheading the offense, they 'ran' a partial 26-5 which sent the difference sky-high to 19p. (47-28) at 17'. From there on, our team maintained complete control and closed the first half at +16 (53-37).
With two back-to-back threes by Goss and Canaan and a lay-up by the latter, the 'red & whites' opened up the distance even further (24p., 61-37 at 24'). A zero-score three-minute period ensued, during which the guests closed into 61-45. But after that, it was Kostas Papanikolaou who took matters into his own hands, opening fire from the three-point line (3/3 during that time) and hence sending the difference to 25p. (72-47) at 30'. Despite the large margin, the 'red & whites' continued playing with the same intensity, increasing the difference to 34p. (84-50) at 36', and putting an early end to the game. It's worth noting that the largest score difference (+36) came at 39' with a three by Canaan.
* Larentzakis sprained his right foot at 13' and wasn't able to stay in the game. Luke Sikma, Michalis Lountzis and Giorgos Tanoulis did not make the final roster.
The quarters: 21-23, 53-37, 72-47, 92-58.
