A comfortable first win in the series
Olympiacos bested AEK 92-75 and leads the Basket League quarter finals series 1-0.
The 'red & whites' made a sluggish start in the game. Bad decisions in the offense, poor shooting percentages and diminished concentration in defense allowed AEK to close the first quarter in the lead (19-20) and to increase that lead to 8p. (19-27) by 12'. Improving on their defense and with Michalis Lountzis and Shaquille McKissic taking upon them to lead, our team balanced the game (30-30) and got to lead 39-36, however, without being able to get into rhythm, resulting in the guests reacting and getting ahead 42-41 at 20'.
The 3rd quarter though was a different story... With a tight defense, good shooting from the perimeter and Nikola Milutinov dominating both ends of the floor, Olympiacos got the reins of the game and sent the difference to 13p. (72-59) at 30'. From that point on, the game became a one-team show, with our team reaching the final 92-75 with characteristic ease.
Thomas Walkup and Filip Petrusev were rested by the coach, together with Ignas Brazdeikis, Moses Wright and Luke Sikma who are not eligible for the Basket League.
The quarters: 19-10, 41-42, 72-59, 92-75.
