The 'red & whties' sweep their way to the semis
Olympiacos routed AEK 100-68 in Ano Liosia, made the 2-0 in the series and hence 'sealed' his ticket to the Basket League's semis.
Relying on good defense and on the offensive triplet comprised by Fall, Canaan and Peters, our team set the tempo from the start (5-15) and closed the first quarter at +12 (12-24). The hosts 'struck' from the perimeter and closed into 7p. (22-29 at 14'), however, Olympiacos paid them back the same way. Canaan and Lountzis found score from the three-point line and the 'red & whites' running a partial 8-0 elevated the difference to +15 for the first time in the game (22-37 at 15'). AEK tried for the come back (39-45), but Mitrou-Long and Milutinov were there to shape the final score of the first half (41-49).
In the second half, Bartzokas' players came in determined to finish with the game early into it. And they did just that... With good defense, good ball movement and high percentages from the perimeter, they increased the distance to 19p. (53-72 at 30'). The outlook remained the same into the fourth quarter. The 'red & whites' remained with the foot 'strapped' on the gas pedal hence getting the win with characteristic ease. It's worth noting that during the last couple of minutes Tanoulis and Abosi got on the floor, with the latter scoring a three in the last seconds of the game.
Shaquielle McKissic (down with a virus) and Nigel Williams-Goss (upset stomach) were out, together with Ignas Brazdeikis, Moses Wright and Luke Sikma, who are not eligible to play for the Basket League.
The quarters: 12-24, 41-49, 53-72, 68-100.
