'Swept' his way to the finals
Olympiacos bested Peristeri 84-71 in the latter's home court, sweeping his way to the Basket League's finals.
The first quarter was a dreamy one for Olympiacos. With a superb defensive game, and excellent ball movement in the offense, began with a 14-0 streak and continued as frenzied! Milutinov, Canaan, Peters and Papanikolaou (who also dished 6 assists during that time), comfortably loaded the hosts' basket, raising the difference to 22p. (13-35). However, the 'red & whites' were completely different in the second quarter... Terrible in defense (the 31 points they received was proof enough), nervousness, turnovers and bad shooting, allowed Peristeri to close into 5p. (44-49) at 20'.
Order was restored after the starters came back on the floor (Walkup, Canaan, Papanikolaou, Peters and Milutinov). Olympiacos put pressure on the back court, found solutions in offense, mainly with Peters, and once again widened the distance to 17p. (56-73) at 28'. From there on, the 'red & whites' consistently maintained control and got a comfortable win.
The quarters: 13-35, 44-49, 60-73, 71-84.
