Olympiacos wins the Ι.Β.Τ. Crete Tournament

A three by Tyler Dorsey gave Olympiacos a 73-70 win over Fenerbahce and hence 1st place in the International Basketball Tournament Crete.

Defenses were the protagonists in the first half. The Turkish team got a 4p. lead (6-10), but the 'red & whites', with Sasha Vezenkov and Luka Vildoza, succeeded in turning the game around (15-13 at 9'). The game remained a close one up until 14' (22-21), but somewhere at that point, the Greek team lost touch with scoring. Bad decisions and lost rebounds allowed Fenerbahce to 'run' a partial 12-2 and build a +9 lead (24-33 at 17'). Sasha Vezenkov and Moses Wright led the 'red & whites' counter attack, but the difficulty in scoring did not allow Olympiacos to get any closer than within 5p. (29-34 at 20').

With Hanes in the lead, Fenerbahce once again got further away, gaining the greatest margin of the game at 24' (38-50). Wright and Dorsey 'struck' from the perimeter and in less than a minute, Olympiacos closed in to 4p. after running an 8-0 streak (46-50). But the team still could not complete the turnaround. Fenerbahce was steadily maintaining control, relying on Colson offense wise (56-64 at 34'). The 'red & whites' pressed in defense, found solutions with Petrusev, Dorsey and Walkup and were able to tie the score (68-68), turning the game into a first class derby. Hall gave Fener the lead once again with two free throws (68-70), Vezenkov made his two free throws next for the 7-70, with 38.7'' on the clock, while after a series of missed opportunities at scoring from both sides, Tyler Dorsey scored an incredible three (1'' before the final buzzer) and sealed the win for our team.

The quarters: 15-14, 29-34, 50-57, 73-70.
