Dominated Armani

Olympiacos was dominant for 35 minutes against Armani Milan and got a significant win (89-68), his second home one, for the 3rd Euroleague round.

With Moustapha Fall controlling the paint and Sasha Vezenkov being the leading man in the offense, Olympiacos made a powerful start in the game vs Armani. They 'ran' a quick 7-0 in the first 90'', while the score was 12-2 at 3'. Some bad decisions in offense and lost defensive rebounds allowed Armani to react and run a partial 15-4 to take a one-point lead (16-17, 9'). Shaquielle McKissic, Sasha Vezenkov and Kostas Papanikolaou were fast to respond and with a 7-0 partial gave our team a +6 lead by the end of the first quarter (23-17). The second quarter began with 5 consecutive points by Leday, and the Italians closed into 1p. A bucket and one by McKissic made the score 26-22 at 12' and signaled the counter-attack that led to a 13-5 run, which led the hosts to the break leading by 12 (39-27).

In the second half, Armani run a partial 14-6 in the first five minutes of the third quarter, succeeding in closing the gap to -4 (45-41). However, the 'red & whites' were able to then set the tempo. With more clear thinking in offense and a dominant game in the back-court, they controlled both ends of the floor with Kostas Papanikolaou playing a most decisive role. A stolen ball by Fournier at 28' resulted in the captain dunking to make the score 56-44, while a little later a three by the French guard/forward took the difference to +15 (59-44)! The quarter ended at 63-48. In the last quarter. the hosts completely controlled the game, being laser-focused. The guests did not pose any threat at any moment and the margin went up to +22 with an indirect three by Alec Peters at 38'. The game was concluded with a three by McKissic at the last offensive play of the 'red & whites' that wrote the final 89-68 score!
