Lost to Efes in Istanbul
Olympiacos lost to Efes in Istanbul 91089 for the 4th round of the Euroleague, 'paying' the price for defensive rebounds lost and the turnovers of the last few possessions.
With good collaborations in offense and great focus on the defensive end, Olympiacos was absolutely dominant in the first quarter of the game. They allowed a mere 11 points score for the hosts, when they scored 23 with Vezenkov leading the way, closing the first quarter with 9 assists and just 1 turnover. In the second quarter, lax defense allowed Efes to gain offensive momentum and close into 1 point (41-42) with 3'' on the clock. Half time ended 41-44 with a nice play at the buzzer, delivered by McKissic who ran the floor from one end to the other and passed to Tyler Dorsey at the corner end.
In the second half, the game became insanely fast. A 'bucket and one' by Moustapha Fall made the score 47-51 for Olympiacos at 25', with Evan Fournier and Shane Larkin taking the lead in a three-point recital that followed. Defensive rebounding was hurting our team and the hosts succeeded in tying the score (61-61, 28'). However, three triples by Sasha Vezenkov, Shaquielle McKissic and Evan Fournier gave our team a five-point lead by the end of the third quarter (65-70). In the fourth and final quarter, the game became a lit-up derby, with Efes gaining the lead for the first time at 37'. Fournier and Fall made their free throws and kept Olympiacos in the game, but in the last 60'' of it, three consecutive turnovers in offense allowed Efes to get the 91-89 win.
