An imposing performance against Barcelona!
A dominant Olympiacos got a huge home win against Barcelona (95-74) for the 7th round of the Euroleague.
The 'numbness' of the first possessions quickly became a non-issue for Olympiacos, that set the tempo in the game vs Barcelona, controlling the rebounds and playing with intensity in defense. The 4-8 score for Barca at 3', quickly became 13-11 at 6' with Shaquielle McKissic and Sasha Vezenkov taking the lead in scoring. The quarter ended with a brilliant 2-minute performance on both ends of the floor, that led to an 8-0 streak and made the score 21-17. In the second quarter, a 2-pointer and a foul by McKissic gave the team a 7p. lead (24-17, 11'), with Nikola Milutinov and Tyler Dorsey entering the offensive equation that got up to a +11 lead (37-26, 17'). The Catalans tried to stay close to the score shooting from behind the three-point line (39-34, 38'), with the 'red & whites' having the answers and going to the locker rooms at half-time leading by 8 (44-36).
In the third quarter, Evan Fournier took over when Olympiacos seemed to be 'stuck' offensively and with 10 points of his own once again gave our team full control of the game (56-42, 26'). Papanikolaou and Vezenkov took the baton and the Piraeus team continued controlling the game relying on toughness in defense and superiority in rebounding. The quarter ended with our team at +15 (65-60). The last quarter began with 5 points by Vezenkov that gave our team a +20 lead (70-50, 32'), with Barcelona attempting to react by scoring two back-to-back buckets (70-55, 34'), but Olympiacos remained absolutely in charge on both ends of the floor. The lead reached +25, twice in the game (85-60, 37' and 91-66, 39'), with the game ending at 95-74!
