4th consecutive victory at the SEF

Olympiacos got his fourth consecutive - although a difficult one - win for the Euroleague, beating Villeurbanne 94-92.

The hosts made a sluggish beginning in the game. The French moved the ball fast and were executing effectively from the 3-point line, as a result of non-existent energy and intensity in the defensive game of our team. The 4-2 score at 1' became 6-11 at 3', with Evan Fournier and Kostas Papanikolaou offering offensive solutions with threes (12-13, 4') but the guests continued to lead the score up until the end of the quarter (24-29). In the second quarter, the 'red & whites' played with better concentration on their defensive duties. Patiently and with Nikola Milutinov and Luca Vildoza leading the offense, they dropped the difference to one bucket (41-43, 19'), but a three the guests scored at the buzzer shaped the half-time score at 42-50.

In the third quarter, Moustapha Fall scored 7 points (49-54, 22'), but turnovers and inefficiency in defense allowed the guests to continue controlling the game (49-63, 24'). Sasha Vezenkov made his presence known, taking center stage in our team's partial 9-0 streak (58-63, 27'), passing the baton to Evan Fournier (62-66, 28'), up until the end of the quarter (71-73). In the last quarter, the French guard/forward was the one to tie the score for our team (73-73), while the guests were controlling the offensive rebounds and hence once again got ahead (77-82, 35'). In the last five minutes of the game, two big threes by Thomas Walkup (82-94, 36') and (87-86, 38') put Olympiacos in the driver's seat, with Fournier and Goss opening up the difference to 5 points (91-86, 39'). A three by Ndiaye with 47'' n the clock (92-89) added more pressure for the remaining time, with the game ending at 94-92 and our team remaining undefeated at home and improving its record to 6-3!
