Lost to Monaco

Olympiacos was extremely off-target and hence lost 77-80 to Monaco at the SEF for the 32nd round of the Euroleague.
Olympiacos started the game nervously. The "red & whites" did not move the ball patiently on offense and failed to impose their game. The score was 9-9 (5'), following a nice collaboration between Kostas Papanikolaou and Sasha Vezenkov, but Monaco then went on a 9-16 run, taking advantage of Olympiacos' poor offensive choices, lack of defensive intensity, and the early fouls of Moustapha Fall. Monaco ended the first quarter leading 15-23. With more energy in defense and patience on offense, the second quarter started with a 6-0 run for Olympiacos, thanks to Alec Peters and Shaq McKissic (21-23, 14'). The American forward provided offensive and defensive solutions, helping the team balance the game (27-27, 17'). A three-point play by Sasha Vezenkov gave Olympiacos a lead (33-31, 29'), and the first half ended at 37-35.
The third quarter started with turnovers and missed shots until Kostas Papanikolaou hit a three-pointer, giving Olympiacos a +5 lead (40-35, 22'). The captain contributed to the team's offensive game, leading them throughout the period (44-41, 24'). Three-pointers by Vezenkov and Peters (who played as a 4-5 in a small lineup) increased the lead to +10 (56-46, 28'). However, Monaco responded, capitalizing on Olympiacos' nervousness from the free-throw line and hitting shots from the perimeter, cutting the lead to a single basket (60-58). Shaquielle McKissic stopped a 5-0 run from Monaco at the start of the final period (63-63), but the visitors made a small 4-0 run, taking the lead (63-67). Alec Peters continued to provide solutions on offense (70-71, 35'), but Olympiacos' continued struggling from the perimeter and the free-throw line allowing Monaco to hit big shots in the final three minutes and claim the victory (77-80).
The quarters: 15-23, 37-35, 60-58, 77-80.
