Finale with a victory for the Gloria Cup
Olympiacos completed its games for the Gloria Cup with a victory. The 'reds' edged Fenerbahce/Ulker 69-60 and won the third place of the tournament.
Our team completed the Gloria Cup with two victories and one defeat and won the third place of the tournament. Now the 'reds' will be returning to their base Saturday noon and next Thursday (2/10) will be departing for Rethymno where they will be participating the "Petros Ekonomakis" tournament.
The first quarter wasn't good for our team, unlike the two previous games. But Olympiacos was good in defense, never mind the Turks leading 12-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Brent Petway was in a scoring spree in the second quarter and helped the reds lead 38-29 at the end of the first half. Bartzokas' players continued with excellent defense in the third quarter and only received 13 points, thus maintaining the difference above the 15 points margin (59-42).
The Piraeus team continued with quite good defensive play in the last quarter as well. Four minutes into the last quarter the margin was still to two digits (61-49). Continuous points scored by Vassilis Spanoulis at that point have Olympiacos a lead by 16 points (65-49) at 36'. The Turkish team with a partial 2-8 score closed the gap to 10 (67-57) at 37:45''. Our team finally got the victory 69-60.
