Loss in Germany

Olympiacos faced a tough a 82-68 loss to Bamberg in Germany and has a record of 9-5, after 14 regular season Euroleague games.

Our team started the game off really bad; hence Bamberg’s early 11-0 lead. The Greek champions needed 4:30 minutes to score their first bucket, making the score 11-2. After a 2-7 run the deficit shrunk to 4 (13-9), but everything went downhill from there. Embarking on a 16-4 run, the home team got their lead all the way up to +16 (29-13). Our team fought back and decreased the deficit (29-19), but Andrea Trinchieri’s team got on another 9-2 run and made the score 38-21.

The Reds were missing many shots from behind 6.75 and thus were down 18 (48-30) after the first half. At the beginning of the second half the team played great defense and got on a 2-9 run, getting the score to 50-39, with Mantzaris and Agravanis providing solutions. A 6-13 run and a three pointer by Spanoulis managed to cut it to 54-43. A successful visit for Green at the stripe got it to 9 (54-45), but a quick 5-0 run got the deficit back up to 14 (59-45) with the third quarter ending 59-50.

Unfortunately, the great showing in the third quarter didn’t continue. Miller was a huge problem in the fourth quarter and thus the deficit got above 15 (72-56), 6 minutes before the end of regulation, which was basically what signaled the end and sealed the deal for our team’s loss.
