A comfortable qualification for Olympiacos
Olympiacos bested Kolossos in Rhodes 94-67 and got the ticket for the 2nd leg of the B’ phase of the Greek Cup competition, where the team will be facing the winner of the Maroussi – Iraklis game.
The first quarter was balanced (26-28), however, the entrance of Giannoulis Larentzakis changed the game dynamics… The ‘reds’ found rhythm on both ends of the court, ran a partial 13-4 and built a +11 margin (30-41 at 14’). With Livio Jean-Charles doing a very good job inside the paint, Olympiacos increased the distance (+14, 34-48 at 17’) and maintained complete control up until the end of the first half (42-53).
Bartzokas’ players made a powerful start in the second half. Led by Thomas Walkup and running a 9-0 streak, Olympiacos sent the difference sky high (+20, 42-62 at 24’). During the next five minutes, our team did not maintain the same tempo in the offence, however, relying on its good defense, succeeded in maintaining a consistent double digit margin (48-66).
Kolossos took advantage of our team’s ‘loosening’ defense and closed in at 13p. (60-73, at 33’). But that was as far as it would go… The ‘reds’ put pressure in the defense, moved the ball in exemplary fashion and got an emphatic victory.
The quarters: 26-28, 42-53, 48-66, 67-94.
