Greek Cup: Ticket to the Final Four won!
Olympiacos bested Ionikos at the SEF 110-85 and got the ticket to the Final Four of the Greek Cup competition that is going to be held from February 18 to February 20 in Iraklio, Crete.
With solid defense and even better co-operations, the ‘reds’ imposed the tempo from the start (15-7 at 5’) and built a +12 difference (25-13). Ionikos replied with a partial 7-2 and closed in at 7p. (27-20) -at the end of the first quarter – but Bartzokas’ players immediately restored order …
Led by Papanikolaou and Martin, they sent the difference sky high at 17p. (40-23). Leaning on their good perimeter percentages, the guests once again closed in to 7p. (46-39 at 17’), however, the ‘reds’ reflexes were set in motion once again… They put pressure in the defense, went to good choices in the offense and with Dorsey, Martin and McKissic leading the offense, they went to the locker rooms at the break with +20 (61-41).
The game in the second half was an exact replica of the first one! OIympiacos did not get to score for about three minutes, during which time Ionikos got to run a partial 12-0 and close in at 9p. (61-52). Again though, the ‘reds’ had an early ‘awakening’, once again sped up and running a partial 18-4 found themselves leading by 23 (79-56) at 28’. From there on, Bartzokas’ players saw to maintain a consistent distance (+25, 98-73 at 36’) and got the final win with characteristic ease.
