Getting ready to sweep!
Olympiacos beat Promitheas in Patras 102-72, is now leading the semis 2-0 and a win in the 3rd game scheduled for Saturday (04/06, 19:00 CET) at the SEF will ‘seal’ their ticket for the Stoiximan Basket League finals.
Despite Sasha Vezenkov making a strong beginning in the game and Hassan Martin doing a good job inside the post (after substituting for Moustapha Fall who made his second foul very early on), Olympiacos was not able to completely control the game in the first quarter (18-20). They did so though in the second one… Relying on good defense, Quincy Acy’s good shooting from the perimeter and Kostas Sloukas’ facilitation, the ‘reds’ completely controlled the tempo and built a +15 lead (31-46 at 20’).
With consistently good defense, good moving of the ball and plurality in scoring, the ‘reds’ got to open up the distance even more (+26p., 39-65 at 25’), and to maintain it above 20p. up until the end of the 3rd quarter (53-75). Despite everything having been decided, coach Bartzokas asked that his players remain absolutely focused. And they did just that… They continued putting pressure in defense, ran the fast-break and sent the difference to +35 (63-98 at 37’). The 100th point was scored by Livio Jean-Charles with a dun (67-100 at 38’).
The quarters: 18-20, 31-46, 53-75, 72-102.
