A dynamic return to winning in Europe!
Olympiacos ‘crushed’ Partizan at the SEF 87-58, for the 7th round of the Euroleague and returned to the path of winning in Europe.
With good defense and Isaiah Canaan and Kostas Papanikolaou leading the way, the ‘red & white’ built an early +10 difference (14-4 at 5’) which went to +12 (30-18 at 12’) thanks to Alec Peters and Kostas Sloukas.
Partizan reacted and closed in to 5p. (30-25 at 24’), Olympiacos relying on perimeter good shooting once again increased the distance (11p., 45-34). However, during the last 14’’ of the first half, the worst possible scenario materialized… Bartzokas’ players committed a turnover and an unnessacary turnover and allowed Partizan to close in to 7p. running a 4-0 streak (45-38).
In the second half, the Serbian team took advantage of the poor defensive operation of the hosts and made a 3 point game (48-45 at 24’). The ‘red & white’, who saw Kostas Papanikolaou benched at 26’ having committed his 4th foul (got a technical after his 3rd one), played exemplary defense, found solutions in offense with Giannoulis Larentzakis and sent the difference sky high at 14p. (68-54 at 30’).
With the same recipe and Kostas Sloukas leading the offense, our team – that even got to lead by 31p. (87-56 at 39’) – turned the game into a one act play and got the win with characteristic ease.
The quarters: 22-14, 45-38, 68-54, 87-58.
