Another road win!

Olympiacos bested Bayern in Munich 82-71 and remained undefeated in Euroleague while on the road.

Our team’s start in the game was pure magic! With superb defence, excellent ball movement and Sasha Vezenkov and Isaiah Canaan leading the offense, the ‘red & whites’ got to build a +17 difference (6-21 at 6’) and closed the first quarter at +16 (11-27). In the second quarter, Giorgos Bartzokas changed the initial line up completely, which had zero impact on the team’s performance, since with Kostas Sloukas taking centre stage, they consistently maintained the distance up until 16’ (24-40). However, nothing worked well for our team in the last four minutes… Turnovers, lost rebounds and poor offensive decisions allowed the Germans to run a 10-0 streak and close in to 6p. (34-40, at 20’).

Olympiacos however, saw to restore the order in the second half. They put pressure in defence, saw Vezenkov remaining consistently connected to the basket and with Moustapha Fall doing an excellent job on both ends of the floor, they sent the difference to +15 (44-59 at 27’). But they once again stepped on the breaks, with no obvious reason… In the first six minutes of the fourth quarter they only got to score 2p. and were practically saved by their defence, which did not allow Bayern to come anywhere closer than 4p. (65-69 at 36’). Walkup and Larentzakis increased the difference to 8 (68-76), Hunter scored a three making a four-point game at 38’ (71-76), but, utilizing their defence and good free throw percentages, Olympiacos ‘sealed’ the victory.

The quarters: 11-27, 34-40, 54-67, 71-82.
