Back to winning!

Olympiacos beat Alba at the SEF 86-76 for the 10th Euroleague round and returned to the path of success.

The Germans put pressure in defense at the beginning of the game, creating a serious problem for our team’s offense – that was scoring mainly with Vezenkov – and relying on their dominion of the post built a +6 lead (13-19 at 9’). Alba maintained the lead consistently up to 11’ (21-26), but the Sloukas and Bolomboy entering the game changed the outlook. Olympiacos upped his defensive performance to the max and with a partial 16-5 streak got ahead with 6p. (37-31 at 17’). The guests replied with a 7-0 streak (37-38), while Kostas Sloukas with 2/2 free throws gave our team a one point advantage (39-28 at 20’).

Shaquielle McKissic took center stage and the ‘red & whites’ got a +8 lead for the fist time in the game (46-38) at 24’. However, the technical foul called on the American player at that point was also his 4th foul, which resulted in his premature benching. The German team attacked back and relying on its shooting from the perimeter succeeded in tying the game 61-61 at 31’. Up to 35’ the game remained balanced (70-68), but an uptick in scoring - mainly with Kostas Papanikolaou - sent our team to +9 (77-68) and from there on complete control of the game was accomplished.

The quarters: 18-21, 39-38, 61-59, 86-76.
