Ionikos blown to pieces!
Olympiacos ‘dismantled’ Ionikos 100 – 68, for the 16th day of the Basket League and remains undefeated in Greece.
This was the 5th time our team got to score 100 points for the Greek League.
The “red & whites’ began with stepping hard on the gas pedal. With superb defense, excellent ball movement and good choices in the offence, they got to build an 18p. difference (27 – 9). Starting from their consistently solid defense (that minimized the guests facilitation, which was obvious when comparing assists for the two teams, 15 to 3), dominating rebounds (28 – 9), Olympiacos not only continued completely controlling the game, but also raised the bar even further (+28p., 48 – 20 at 20’).
It took three minutes into the 3rd quarter for our team to score, however, Ionikos was not able to change their fate. On the contrary, the ball went inside the paint to Joel Bolomboy and the distance increased to 32p. in just only a minute (56 – 24 at 24’). With the same ‘recipe’, an excellent defensive game and team spirit when attacking the bucket, the ‘red & whites’ struck from the perimeter with Kostas Papankolaou and Giannoulis Larentzakis, found themselves leading by 35 (82 – 46 at 35’) and put an early end to the game.
At 37’, Giorgos Bartzokas put Panagiotis Tsamis on floor, who, after scoring his first ever Euroleague points against Alba, made a three that credited him with his first ever Basket League points also.
Michalis Lountzis surpassed 100 points scored with 2/2 free throws.
The quarters: 27-9, 48-20, 68-38, 100-68.
