Olympiacos continues undefeated!
Without Giorgos Bartzokas in his bench (he was out due to a cold, so Christos Pappas was the acting head-coach), Olympiacos beat Lavrio 103-75 for the postponed road game for the 15thround of the Basket League, where the team retains its undefeated record.
The ‘red & whites’ made in impressive start. With good defense, good ball movement and good perimeter percentages, they ‘built’ a +15 lead (14-29) at 9’. The hosts tried to eat away at the difference ‘striking’ from the three point line, however, they failed in their first attempt, since Peters and Canaan replied in the same fashion (37-50 at 17’). However, they continued putting their faith in their long distance shooting and finally, thanks to it, they got to ‘punish’ the defensive sluggishness of the ‘red & whites’ along with their bad decision making and closed in 48-54 by the end of the first half.
Our team appeared to be completely focused in the second half and running a partial 7-0 immediately sent the difference to 13p. (48-61), closing the 3rdquarter at +16 (63-79). They did not slow down though… With good defense and Kostas Sloukas taking center stage, they opened up the distance to 22p. (65-87 at 33’) and despite Christos Pappas decision to try and keep his players as fresh as possible in view of the game with Partizan, our team reached 100 points with a three by Alec Peters (75-100 at 39’) and at +28 (75-103) with a three by George Papas.
- Shaquielle McKissic did not participate the team roster (rested by the team).
The quarters: 18-29, 48-54, 63-79, 75-103.
