Undefeated till the end!
Olympiacos beat AEK 85-78 on the road and finished Basket League’s regular season first and undefeated!
The ‘red & whites’ got to lead 7-0 at the beginning of the game, however, bad decisions and turnovers allowed AEK to get ahead for the first time at 7’ (14-13). Olympiacos immediately regained the lead, and a three by Alec Thomas sent them to +8 (21-29) at 12’. Again though, they weren’t able to sustain the distance… AEK struck where our team’s defense was hurting, took advantage of its many turnovers (a total of 10 in the first half), as well as of the many missed free throws and closed in to 3p. (35-38) at 20’.
The 3rd quarter though was a totally different story… With solid defense, good ball movement and Sasha Vezenkov and Moustapha Fall taking center stager, our team imposed the rhythm and built a 14p. lead (53-67) at 30’. Without reaching high performance standards, the ‘red & whites’ were completely controlling the game (68-78 at 36’) and despite AEK got to close in 76-81, our team was never actually threatened.
The quarters: 19-21, 35-38, 53-67, 78-85.
