Super Cup: Peristeri – Olympiacos 64-84
Olympiacos beat Peristeri 84-64 and got the ticket to the Super Cup final (30/09, 19:30 CET).
The ‘red & whites’ made an ideal start … Playing good defense, moving the ball swiftly and with Kostas Papanikolaou leading the offence, they got to lead by 13p. (3-16) at 6’. Peristeri closed in relying on long range shooting (20-24), but Olympiacos remained in the driver’s seat up until 11’ (23-29).
Vassilis Spanoulis’ team played some pressing defense, took advantage of the many missed free throws by the ‘red & whites’ with Hands taking center stage, got ahead for the first time in the game (30-29) at 13’. However, Milutinov’s return to the game once again shifted the scales. The Serbian center dominated both posts and assisted by Nigel Williams-Goss and Michalis Lountzis, gave our team a 10p. lead (36-46) at 20’.
The game continued the same way into the second half. With good defensive game and offensive pluralism, Olympiacos maintained complete control (47-61 at 28’), while in the 4th quarter his dominance was absolute. With a consistently efficient back court and Nigel Williams-Goss and Nikola Milutinov leading the offense, they got to skyrocket the difference to 20p. and got a comfortable win.
